554 parks and green spaces are now flying the flag - should yours be one of them?
The Green Flag Award Scheme is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales, and is now inviting entries for the 2008/09 awards.
From country parks to cemeteries, and nature reserves to playgrounds, over half of all local authorities now have one or more award winning sites. A Green Flag Award can bring a range of benefits, from generating funding, reducing crime and bringing the community together.
Is my park eligible?
Sites must be freely accessible to the public and have a site specific management plan. Sites are judges against eight criteria:
