To all you budding photographers out there - we would love to receive photographs you have taken of those Green Pennant Award-winning green spaces - maybe you have captured an atmospheric scene on an early morning stroll or snapped a shot of someone enjoying the moment. Wildlife pictures, family shots - anything which conveys how much you appreciate these wonderful green spaces - we would like to see them. Could you also put together a paragraph or two about the picture? This is not a competition but selected photographs and stories will be posted onto the Green Flag Award website in the news section. We will also add these pictures to our archive of park pictures and use them on the website and in our marketing literature and maybe in the future we can even host an exhibition of them. Please send your creative snaps to segerton at civictrust dot org dot uk

If you would like to create or regenerate a green space to improve your local community you can now apply for grants from a new £50m Community Spaces programme managed by Groundwork UK on behalf of a consortium of environmental organisations including the Civic Trust.

The Big Lottery Fund is providing the £50m cash pot for the Community Spaces programme under its £234m Changing Spaces initiative to help communities enjoy and improve their local environments. Project targets include play areas, community gardens, parks, wildlife areas, ponds, courts and village greens, and pathway improvements. In addition to funding, groups will also benefit from a network of trained facilitators who can help them turn their ideas into reality.

Julie Bustos at the Civic Trust can help with applications and answer any queries you may have on this forum - if you would prefer to speak to Julie in person she can be contacted on: 0151 231 6916.
