Cyclist leaves behind the stress at Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Students from the University of Winchester are organising a countryside events day at Queen Elizabeth Country Park as part of a project to get young people and families out of their towns and into the fresh air.

The eight students are planning the day alongside Becky French, of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, to take place on Sunday, May 11 with a wealth of attractions.

The line-up already includes Forest Knights’, a wilderness skills specialist, who will encourage youngsters to find out how to fend for themselves in the great outdoors. Activities also include woodcarving and fire making and the Environment Agency will be holding fly-fishing demonstrations. The Portsmouth Jugglers will be giving regular displays and hands-on workshops and Southampton Orienteering will be setting up a 4km course around the park.
