Past activities at Daventry Country Park have enjoyed the wildife rich site in a sensitive way

A solar powered scout hut is to be installed at Daventry Country Park which has been designated as a local nature reserve.

The scout hut will include solar water heating and rainwater technology, and will be built using natural materials. It will also be plant-covered to blend into the surrounding parkland.

Simon Bovey, executive director at Daventry District Council, said: “A bank of trees has to be cleared to make room for the new scouts’ base, but we will be replanting a protected wildlife belt once it is built.

“The building will blend in very well with the country park and scouts activities will be limited to ensure there won’t be any detrimental impact on the nature reserve.

“The new headquarters is a positive step forward for young people in Daventry and it will really bring the scouts closer to nature, allowing them to learn more about their environment.”
