The Civic TrustQuestion: ‘How many Green Flag Award judges can you get in a public toilet?
This intriguing question and many more were answered when some of the scheme’s most experienced judges descended on Caldecott Park in Rugby recently.
The event was part of a focused consultation exercise involving judges and many other influential partners to develop a comprehensive training programme in light of the sustained and predicted rapid growth of the Green Flag award scheme.
Judges gathered together over two sessions at The Benn Hall to recommend and explore how the training will evolve. Each session entailed a site visit by all judges taking part to assess the process and make any recommendations for the future expansion of the scheme.
Green Flag Award Applications Manager Paul Todd said: “The sessions have gone extremely well, with a lot of positive feedback from our very experienced judges. Retention of our judges is extremely high and we are looking to implement further training to deal with the anticipated growth of this vital network.
“We are forever grateful to our judges for their valuable support, on a purely voluntary basis. It’s because of them the scheme continues to thrive.”
The training is being developed in conjunction with Community First Partnership. Director Ian Baggott, himself a Green Flag Award judge since 1997, is leading the development of the programme.
