The Civic TrustGreen Flag Award winning Pudsey Park's visitor centre is to get a facelift as part of a five year development plan.
The new look centre will exhibit many indigenous plants and wildlife species which can be found around the Victorian country park. There will also be interactive educational displays.
Councillor Andrew Carter executive board member for development said: “Pudsey Park is a key attraction in West Leeds, enjoyed by many people including myself.
“I am particularly excited that the visitors centre will incorporate educational and interactive facilities which will encourage people to learn about the wildlife that inhabits West Leeds.”
Construction is being managed by the council’s construction and skills team
Coun David Blackburn a member of the West Leeds Country Park and Green Gateway forum said: “I take a keen interest in any project that provides training opportunities for local young people to get the skills necessary to gain employment and secure a prosperous career, particularly as this project will encourage an appreciation of the surrounding green area.”
It is anticipated that the new visitor’s facility will be open this autumn.
