English Heritage proudly sponsors the Green Heritage Site accreditation.

As the national body responsible for conservation, English Heritage encourages all owners to care for their historic parks and gardens, and aims to promote their enjoyment and understanding by all.  There are over 200 municipal parks of national importance - and many more public spaces like cemeteries and town squares - on English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. A 2001 survey with local authorities estimated that there are 2,500 historic parks of national and local historic importance (45,400 hectares).

English Heritage gives advice through its landscape architects on the restoration and care of historic landscapes and planning applications affecting Grade I and II* sites, grant schemes such as the Heritage Lottery Fund Public Parks Initiative, Countryside Stewardship.  English Heritage also has its own grant scheme and runs special initiatives such as the London Squares Campaign.
