committed to maintaining the Park to the highest possible standard. To assist us with this
the staff produced and completed a site based manual for staff containing information and
guidance on all aspects of their work, including:
How the manual works
The manual for West Ham Park is presented in a hard copy format in a bound folder,
copies of which are then held in the mess room, Park office and the Superintendents
office ensuring all staff have access to them at all times.
The manual contains 74 task based specifications which the staff read through on their
own or for those with learning difficulties or who’s second language is English the
specifications are read to them and tasks demonstrated. In addition the use of pictograms
to identify tasks, tools and protective clothing is used throughout the document to assist
interpretation.
Guidance notes have been produced for all areas of health and safety and sustainability in
the Park and these documents are delivered as a toolbox talk to all of the teams on an
annual bases in addition to the notes in the folder.
