The Town Council’s aim and vision is to provide the highest quality service as a Burial Authority, not just as an essential amenity at the most sensitive and demanding time, but also in providing a peaceful and tranquil place of rest that can be visited for its beauty, wildlife and quiet contemplation. It is the Council’s wish to continue application for the prestigious Green Flag Status in its tenth year of application - 2019/ 2020.
This year's focus will be led with the encouragement of community involvement to develop new insect friendly planting within the cemetery to compliment the installation of a WW1 Commemoration Bench. A further WW1 Commemoration Bench was placed in the War Memorial Garden. Both seats depict a WW1 theme and the title “Lest We Forget”.
An interpretation and information notice has been placed to raise awareness of a protected species of Orchid within the Cemetery and to ensure that the community and bereaved are aware of its rich heritage, services, terms and conditions the Town Council has published an Information Guide.
The Town Council will continue to maintain the highest standards of horticultural practices to achieve Green Flag Status.
The Green Flag Award would help us to enhance the environmental, ecological, bio-diversity and conservation qualities of this site and emphasise the value of its future and heritage.
