Swains Lane Reserve is a well used by the local community close to Wellington town centre. The Council adopted the Reserve in 2007 from a housing developer.
There is a selection of apple trees with local varieties, seasonal pond containing Crested Newts and wild flower meadows. The grass in the orchard encourages visitors to appreciate the natural countryside and it contributes to the informal, relaxed feel of the Reserve. In the summer months there are many butterflies, moths, birds and bats.
The Community group organises several free educational events in the reserve throughout the year, the main event been the an open evening with The Somerset trust for Nature Conservation who give talks on the wild life found on the reserve and guided walks.
