"A Park for Everyone," Leavesden Country Park is located on College Road in Abbots Langley.
The park has a children’s play area, an adult outdoor gym, free public tennis courts, some historic remains from the original Leavesden Hospitals, cemeteries, Leavesden HIVE (a heritage and wildlife center), the Woodlands Cafe, Leavesden Cycle Hub and much more. The YMCA Woodlands Community Hub is also located onsite.
A calendar of events is organised by the Park Ranger through a Heritage Lottery Fund activity plan. These include nature events, crafts, heritage inspired events, educational workshops and volunteer work parties.
The Friends of Leavesden Country Park have recently been reinvigorated and works in conjunction with the site management plan and heritage lottery fund activity plan.
A full education programme has been developed at Leavesden to be delivered in the HIVE and throughout the country park. This links directly to the national curriculum and forges links between subjects such as: Biology, Geography, History and English.
Also within the heritage lottery funded project are plans to restore the Remembrance Garden, install 9 sculptures to create a heritage trail, complete some small scale archaeology, improve access to the site with path works and plant another orchard in the south side of the park. Much of this work is due to take place during 2019.
