Clifton Park

Minutes from Rotherham town centre Clifton Park is here for you to enjoy. It offers all the ingredients for a memorable visit, set within 23 hectares of beautiful historic gardens and parkland.

Opened to the public in 1891, Clifton Park was originally laid out as the private grounds of Clifton House in 1784. This was the home of the Walker family who owned iron and steel works in the town. As part of your visit to Clifton Park, why not explore the Museum which now occupies the house to get a flavour of how the Walkers would have lived in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The park was extensively restored and upgraded thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and BIG Lottery between 2008 and 2010. This returned historic features such as the Cenotaph, Bandstand and Memorial Garden to their former glory, and provided high quality new features for people of all ages and interests such as the Water Splash, Garden House, and Walled Garden.

Perfect for a family day out, Clifton Park is home to one of the regions biggest and best play areas. As well as the Water Splash which operates in summer months, there is a toddler play zone, sand play area, challenges for more adventurous kids including a giant tower slide, and a BMX/Skate plaza, all of which are open all year round and are free. Clifton Park also has children's amusements, mini golf and a road train plus a cafe and ice cream kiosk on site.

Winner of the Green Flag Peoples Choice Award 2016.
