Paddington Recreation Ground

With over 1.2million visitors per year and at 28 Acres, Paddington Recreation Ground is Westminster City Council’s largest open space. After an extensive refurbishment programme, the site now boasts some of the best facilities in the country including: 3G pitches, Athletics Track, Tennis Courts, Bowling green, Cricket nets, Indoor and Outdoor Gym, Hockey pitch, Village green, Play Areas, Environmental Area and several gardens. It is worth noting that Paddington Recreation ground is noted as the earliest public athletic ground of its kind in London (Crowe 1987). Whilst the Grounds main attraction is still primarily recreation, it attracts users who visit the Grounds for its green-space value and as such the ground is recognised as a Site of Local Importance for nature conservation. Westminster City Council and other organisations (such as Sport England, The Football Foundation, The London Marathon Trust, The FA, The LTA amongst others) have reaffirmed their commitment to this much loved community site with continued capital investment, and regular sports development work. The site continues to grow and adapt with new additions and on a regular basis.
