Information about this open space

Linking the town centre with the Pier, the gardens lie at the heart of Bournemouth’s seaside resort appeal.  Listed as a Grade II* garden by English Heritage they retain much of the original Victorian landscaping: the rockery has recently been restored and the art deco pavilion overlooking the gardens is also being restored.  The gardens offer a range of facilities from tennis, summer long community art exhibition, bandstand music festivals, cafes and unique tethered balloon flights.  Over 2 million people use the gardens annually, enjoying traditional candle-lit summer evenings, Halloween events and the Kids Free Fun Festival running July and August.  By contrast, the Central and Upper sections offer tranquil walks and a rich diversity of flora and fauna.
