0161 795 2650We realise that being awarded the Green Flag for the seventh year is a fantastic achievement that shows continued commitment by all, however we can not, and will not let ourselves become complacent. These last seven years have been possible thanks to several groups who come together to work alongside us in bringing about the positive changes in the park that encourages the community as a whole to feel and take ownership in their local park. A major problem that was identified in previous years was the removal of the dead/dying Black Poplar that has shown a developing virus over the past 6 to 7 years. Funding was found to remove the 750+ trees and replace with other species in Boggart Hole Clough. Following their removal we have the opportunity to introduce a wider species of replacement trees. With the benefit of experience and knowledge we can develop this park, steeped with its hundreds of years of history and rejuvenated landscape into something unique with a view to bringing the past alongside the present. Without the ongoing continuous efforts of the Conservation Team, Business in the Community, Community Payback team and the other volunteer groups we could not make the park what it is today; one of the many jewels in Manchester with an abundance of hidden extras and natural beauty.
