01202 437827Knyveton Gardens is surrounded by residential housing, small private hotels and guesthouses and provides important recreation and sporting facilities for the area serving residents and visitors to the town. It includes bowls, tennis, petanque, cafĂ© and toilets (within the bowls pavilion). In addition a Sensory Garden has been provided, which includes a small wild area, in conjunction with Knyveton Gardens Action Group, a voluntary community organisation involved in the enhancement and maintenance of the Gardens. The Gardens are well maintained by mobile ground staff who achieve the specified standards and ensure, together with the Community Parks Officer, that the Gardens are safe to use and provide a pleasant environment for relaxation. Any problems occurring within the Gardens are attended to promptly. Knyveton Gardens is designated for the control of dog fouling under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996. In addition some areas are designated ‘Dog Prohibited’ and ‘Dogs on Leads’ under the Byelaws for the Regulation of Dogs. The Community is also involved in the management of the bowls, tennis and petanque facilities through the Knyveton Bowling Clubs Trust.
