Information about this open space

Hexham Parks Publicity Statement Hexham Parks are unique among Tynedale Council’s parks and open spaces, a flagship visitor attraction for the district. They largely contribute to the character of historic Hexham, a popular tourist destination in Northumberland, close to the Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage site.  The parks are publicised in local publications, Northumberland tourism marketing literature and on the council’s website.  Publications include the ‘Tynedale Visitor’, the council’s own newspaper ‘Talking Tynedale’ and Hadrian’s Wall Country Holiday Guide. They are always praised by judges from Northumbria and Britain in Bloom.  Regular press releases about activities in the park are featured in local and regional newspapers. 2007 stories include new sculptures in the Sensory Garden, Hexham Carnival, Selefest young people’s festival, summer events, and the Royal Forestry Society 125th anniversary commemorative tree planting .  The council’s environmental outreach officer works on projects with young people, runs a public events programme in the parks including nature trails, seed planting and craft activities. A biannual newsletter and an events leaflet are produced and circulated by the outreach officer.  The leaflet ‘A Walk in the Park’ describing all of Tynedale’s Parks is distributed through Tourist Information Centres, tourism distribution days, in leaflet dispensers in the park and in the Bedroom Browser for Hadrian’s Wall Country which is distributed to all hotels and bed and breakfasts in the district. A Sensory Garden leaflet is also available in the park. Up to date information for the local community and users is updated regularly in display cases in the parks.
