Burrs Country Park

Burrs Country Park

Information about this open space

Burrs Country Park lies on the River Irwell one mile northwest of Bury town centre. The park was developed during the 1990s on the site of a redundant factory complex. At the centre of Burrs the archaeological heritage has been conserved and a terrace of millworkers’ cottages rebuilt to provide an outdoor pursuits centre complete with bunkhouse.  To the north Burrs opens out in to open countryside of the Irwell Valley and accommodates a canoe slalom on the river and an agricultural show ground. To the east the park is bounded by the preserved East Lancashire Railway.
