0161 253 5909Burrs Country Park lies on the River Irwell one mile northwest of Bury town centre. The park was developed during the 1990s on the site of a redundant factory complex. At the centre of Burrs the archaeological heritage has been conserved and a terrace of millworkers’ cottages rebuilt to provide an outdoor pursuits centre complete with bunkhouse. To the north Burrs opens out in to open countryside of the Irwell Valley and accommodates a canoe slalom on the river and an agricultural show ground. To the east the park is bounded by the preserved East Lancashire Railway.
