01494 421878Higginson Park covers an area of 9.5 hectares. The Park is situated on the north bank of the River Thames and attracts residents and tourists throughout the year. People visit the park to walk by the Thames, admire the views across the open countryside and watch the wildlife, enjoy a coffee with friends in one of the cafes, watch a game of cricket or take advantage of the many facilities available in the Leisure Complex or Court Garden house. The magnificent 200 year old London Plane trees offer much needed shade on a hot summer day. Fairs, markets, carnivals, parades and other community events take place most weekends from Easter to late September. The biggest event of the year in Marlow is the Marlow Town Regatta and Festival; two days of rowing, dragon boat racing, concerts and a huge fairground. In autumn 2006 work began on planned improvements to the park which includes a new play area, cafe and toilet facilities. The cafe and toilets are due to open in 2008. The play area has been a huge success since opening, with thousands of children coming from as far away as Reading and Oxford to experience this fantastic facility. In December 2007 facilities for young people were improved further with the opening of the new skate park which has proved very popular with the younger residents.
