020 8894 2677Boston Manor Park is an attractive 14 hectare park within easy reach of the centre of London. The park is open to the public every day and is used not only by local residents, principally from the local communities of Brentford and South Ealing, but also by workers from nearby offices. The park provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, and popular activities include tennis, football, duck feeding, walking, nature study and gardening, with facilities for children, including a playground and a ball court. The park has retained much of its historical charm and tranquility, despite some substantial changes on its doorstep in recent decades. The setting is predominantly parkland with a lake and several ancient trees, including some fine cedars, plus woodland in the valley of the adjacent River Brent. The historic manorhouse that is a central feature of the park exhibits more than 80 paintings from the local authoriy’s collection; mainly historic views of the west Middlesex area. In recent years, upgrading of paths, replanting of shrub, flower and herbaceous borders and extensive tree works have revitalised the park. An extensive wildflower meadow was created in 2006 and the historic walled garden is currently being restored. The park’s Friends group and a local tennis club actively support CIP in improving the park, raising funds and in organising numerous events, including the annual Brentford Festival which attracts more than 5,000 people to the park and enjoys substantial support from the local community during its planning and production.
