01727 819366Clarence Park was successful in 2005, in being awarded a Green Flag award at its first attempt. Further Green Flags were awarded in 2006 and 2007. In 2007 the park was also awarded a Green Heritage award. The first five years of the Management Plan have been implemented, and for 2008 a new five year Management Plan has been produced. The new plan reflects the constructive comments from Green Flag judges over the last three years, and the public feedback from the Green Herts consultation and the Park Forum. The new Management Plan takes a fresh look at the Park’s vision and objectives, recognizing that the park has improved overall through the Green Flag process, a fact which has been noticed and reflected in the public feedback. Further improvement is still possible, but maintaining these higher standards is a challenge in itself. Encouraging more public involvement in park management and volunteer work, is still to be achieved, and the Council is pursuing some new initiatives following the greater success of the park’s sports clubs. St Albans District Council aims to be Hertfordshire’s premier authority, and achieving Green Flag status is a key objective. The Council is committed to achieving these high standards across all its parks and open spaces, and is increasing the number of applications year on year.
