Information about this open space

Ty Mawr Country Park has all the fun of the farm in the magnificent setting of the Dee valley. At Ty Mawr you can delight in feeding some of the animals, including free range chickens and ducks and friendly lop eared rabbits. Donkeys, pygmy goats, Pot bellied pigs and the unusual black and white horned Jacob sheep, can all be seen grazing in the wild flower meadows along with Lawrence our ‘guard Llama’!  Picturesquely situated beneath the dramatic stone built Cefn Viaduct on the banks of the River Dee, Ty Mawr Country Park is a great place to relax and sit a while whilst looking at the view, or take a short walk down to the riverside.  For a slightly longer walk, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, within easy walking distance. Ty Mawr is also a great starting point to discover the newly established ‘Cefn Heritage Trail’. The Offa’s Dyke National Trail and Llangollen Canal Walk are also easily accessed from Ty Mawr. The Visitor Centre at Ty Mawr Country Park holds a beautiful display of welsh wood sculpture all inspired by the Country Park, sculptures can also be seen around the animal enclosures and ‘mini beast woods’.  There is a children’s playground, a Trim Trail and BMX track for the more adventurous. Whether to admire the view, see the farm animals, be inspired by the artwork or take a walk, why not bring a picnic and have a great family day out?
