01202 437827Boscombe Chine Gardens recently has recently benefited from a £2.4m Heritage Lottery Fund backed restoration project, bringing them back to their pre-war splendour. A new terrace café overlooks the formal gardens, which boast fantastic 3D bedding displays, alongside traditional bedding and innovative herbaceous planting schemes. A circular spa shelter with a conical, oak shingled, roof now acts as a land train terminus offering trips to and from Bournemouth Pier, whilst a children’s water play feature has been added, alongside a multi-use ball court and a re-designed mini-golf course. Extensive clearance of the Holm oak canopy, that once shrouded the chine, has opened up fantastic sea views and allowed for the re-creation of an acid grassland area, typical of the Chine in the early 19th century.
