VACANT POSTRufford Abbey Country Park is a 150 acre country park open to the public free of charge 364 days per year. The site comprises the ruins of a 12th century monastery and later country house, surrounded by woodland, meadowland, formal gardens and a lake. Visitor facilities include four on-site shops and two catering outlets (all run in house) plus a modern craft centre, sculpture trail and exhibitions. We are visited by approximately half a million people per year, and generate around two thirds of our own running costs through our successful commercial activity. In 2008 we will be opening a new Children’s Garden and Play Village, and following conversion of Rufford Mill, now offer an attractive venue for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies. Our ranger team offer environmental education to around 1000 school pupils per year and generate around 1700 hours per year of volunteer time. We stage over 100 public events per year. Our aim is a park with something for everyone, accessible to all.
