01535 618068The Bronte Parsonage, Haworth Main Street and Top Withens have become international attractions, bringing tourist visitors from as far away as Japan to stroll around the village and the surrounding moorland. Central Park nestles on the hillside at Haworth, surrounded by imposing moors, The Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway and the coal soot blackened york stone walls of nearby cottages and buildings. Although a relatively small site at 2.85 hectares the park sits amongst its surroundings as an oasis, testimony to mans celebration of the natural environment, borne from the success of the industrial revolution. The Park is listed on the English Heritage Register of Parks & Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England and provides a green link between the Steam powered engines of the nearby station and the cobbled main street with its myriad of tourist shops, cafĂ©’s and the Bronte Parsonage Museum. Facilities in the park include a children’s play area, crown bowling green, new public toilets and highly manicured areas of anenity grassland, shrubbery and bedding displays. The park provides an ideal opportunity to recharge the batteries in a peaceful and relaxing environment away from the tourism honey pots that surround the site.
