Naunton Park

Naunton Park

Information about this open space

Naunton Park was officially opened on July 6th 1893 and has gone through many transformations since. Today it comprises two parts, a playing field - with newly planted copses, spring bulbs and splendid views across to nearby hills plus play equipment for toddlers and older children - and a more formal sheltered garden lined with scented plants, trees and seating. Alms houses form a boundary to one side and a Yew hedge separates the garden from the playing field. A majestic Weeping Beech dominates the middle ground in the rose garden. The playing field is used for football games, cricket matches and sports days. A changing pavilion sitting between the field and one of the councils allotment sites is available to the local community for cricket teas, youth clubs, events and the allotment growers association shop. An enthusiastic Friends group organise popular annual fairs and fun days and have successfully raised funds to improve and regenerate the park.
