Built in 1849 for Mr Buckley and his family who were wealthy mill owners the house then became the property of Mr Buckley’s Cousin before being sold in 1913 to Austin Hopkins, an MP for Mossley. In 1922, Mr Hopkins gave the house and grounds to the people of Audenshaw for Council Offices and to this day it is used for community purposes . The Hall and park is still very much a ‘hub’of the local community and used by various groups throughout the day, which include dancing, Mums and Tots and crafts to name but a few. The playground is popular with children of all ages and the bowling green is well used by the local bowling teams. The floral beds are planted twice a year to give both spring and summer displays. Ryecroft Hall is a wonderful place for relaxation and enjoyed by all age groups.
