01872 224377Queen Mary Gardens stand as a testament to traditional horticultural standards and expertise. Over the last twelve years these gardens have been successful in achieving a number of high level awards in recognition of their position as an exemplar not only in the South West region but nationally. Awards include: •British Association of Landscape Industries Award – awarded three times for Horticultural excellence in 1996, 1998 and 2001 •Britain in Bloom Abbiss Trophy for horticultural excellence in 2004 •Winning Green Flag awards since 1998. As part of our strategy for community involvement our Education Officer will be looking to increase the visitor, staff and volunteer appreciation of the social, horticultural and heritage value of the Gardens. We aim to achieve this through the development and implementation of a programme of activities, events and training courses. We are recruiting volunteers and continue to build strong relationships with other agencies to deliver courses and activities, monitor the results and effect of our combined effort. Together we aim to foster a real sense of common purpose through concepts of sustainable management, conservation and heritage. Our management approach has evolved beyond the single focus of delivering horticultural excellence and we have truly adopted the ethos of the Green Flag, making a concerted effort to raise the profile of the Gardens. Through our proactive work and commitment, we believe the Queen Mary Gardens continues to be an inspiring ambassador for the Green Flag Award both in Cornwall and across the South West.
