Information about this open space

Castle Vale Centre Park is situated in Castle Vale which is a suburb 6 miles north of Birmingham City Centre.  In a pioneering example of regeneration, Birmingham City Council along with Castle Vale Community Environmental Trust (CVCET) and local people, a blue print of the area was devised, two years on this is something that will be developed in new parks of the future in Birmingham.  The focal point of this consultation was to have a town park which could be developed and used by local people.  The result is an excellent example of a local park development which provides facilities for both passive and active recreation.  In addition there are trees, shrubs and flowers which strike a fine balance between enhancing the site and the community use which greatly enhances what was once a very bleak area of Birmingham.  This proves that with local collaboration, fine parks can be developed and maintained despite heavy use, to a very high standard.
