The park has ornamental flower beds and a stunning array of summer and winter bedding which in 2008 was completely peat free. There are also examples of permanent planting to enjoy in the heath garden and herbaceous borders. There are sections of open grassland for sports and picnics, walks through the woodland, or along the brook. Knighton Spinney is a nature reserve and haven for birds and other wildlife. The park has a number of facilities including a pitch and putt course, tennis courts, a fantastic new interactive play area, and various orienteering courses. It also has a self guided tree trail to take you round some of the more exciting specimen trees. A sensory garden was created by the local garden club, which can be enjoyed by visitors. Workshops are regularly held in the sensory garden, and it is used by groups and schools. The park has a great community spirit, with both and active friends group and garden club. There are also a number of events, from brass band concerts to guided walks, to tennis coaching.
