0845 129 7777Howard Park is an historic landmark in the traditional mill town environment of Glossop. The park is a good example of visionary layout from the Victorian era retaining many original features. Of particular note is the variety of trees both indigenous and ornamental. The park lends itself particularly to passive recreation however caters also for the family. It combines stunning views of the surrounding Pennines with local architectural interest. There are beautiful displays of rhododendrons in the spring and impressive tones of autumn colour. Of particular note is the creative use of contours and plantings to enhance views and create a sense of surprise for the visitor as they enjoy the park. The community have been actively engaged adding value through community projects. Improvments have been made to manage the site in a more environmentally sensitive manner and protect and enhance habitats. The play area has been completely refurbished celebrated by a successful opening event.
