01133957400The 600 hectares of parkland, woodland, farmland and gardens which make up this historic estate, landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown, form the perfect setting for the Tudor Jacobean mansion and Home Farm. There are superb horticultural features including the old walled garden with stunning herbaceous borders surrounding a 1920’s style rose garden; National Plant Collections of Phlox, Delphiniums, Asters and Chrysanthemums which delight both experts and visitors and the seasonal glass house exhibitions provide traditional staged displays of changing scent and colour. For the more active there are playgrounds, two 18-hole golf courses, a BMX bike track and fifteen football pitches, including one for under tens. For those who want to relax and enjoy there are the visitor centre, tea room and a programme of guided activities. Community involvement is encouraged through an active education service and thriving volunteer groups. Home Farm is a thriving visitor attraction and the largest open Rare Breeds Farm in Europe, all set in original Georgian and Victorian buildings. The parkland and woodland can be explored through a network of paths and bridleways. Continuing investment is planned to undertake on-going landscape restoration and improvements to visitor facilities, including the newly refurbished cafĂ© now selling sausages and burgers from our own farm.
