Information about this open space

The picturesque Ottershaw Memorial Field is situated on the edge of the village of Ottershaw, in the Borough of Runnymede, in Surrey.  It is an important and well loved green space, used by many from the local community for participation in a range of sports and activities, exploring the park’s woodland, or simply enjoying the inherent semi-rural landscape.  The Memorial Field offers a children’s play area, football and cricket pitches, a multi use games area, bowling green, tennis courts and rooms for use by local clubs and groups.  There are areas of formal planting and a number of fine specimen trees.  Its woodland comprises largely of native species including holly, silver birch, rowan, and oak.  It is extremely popular with walkers and the Memorial Field is used as the starting point for a guided walk (number 4 in the Runnymede Rambles series, available from Runnymede Borough Council’s Leisure Services Department).  There is also a horse ride through the woodland, providing a safe route away from the busy local roads.  Good parking facilities allow the park to host community events which attract large numbers of people including the annual Scout Fair.  Ottershaw Memorial Field has a vital role in providing safe, accessible and well-maintained facilities for families and the local community as a whole.
