01732243397Situated in the heart of Kent between the towns of Snodland and Larkfield, Leybourne Lakes Country Park covers an area of 93 hectares (230 acres) encompassing a range of habitats including lakes, grassland, wetland, scrub, woodland and flower rich meadows. The Country Park combines both formal activities including windsurfing, scuba diving and fishing along with more informal recreation such as a simple walk in the countryside. Visitors can take on the 2.5km (1.5 miles) Ocean Circular Walk, using the interpretive sign posts to create your own poetry and recreate pictures of park wildlife. Wildlife related events, sponsored walks, scout activities, triathlon events and regular healthy walks means everyone can get involved in the site. If you wished to become more involved in the site management / maintenance why not sign up to join the volunteer conservation group or the volunteer ranger scheme by contacting the Ranger Office (details below). The Park is home to a wide range of wildlife. The Park’s Mill Stream is full of dragonflies and damselflies during the Spring and Summer months and the lakes are home to large number of over-wintering birds during the Autumn and Winter, including Bitterns and occasionally a Wax wing. For more information about the Park, visit www.tmbc.gov.uk , contact the Rangers’ Office on 01634 243397 or email leisure.services@tmbc.gov.uk Leybourne Lakes Country Park is owned and managed by Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council.
