01604 883920Nestling quietly in the Ecton Valley, Sywell Country Park is a haven for wildlife and visitors alike. Stunning views looking out from the dam show a rolling landscape, whilst below the formal layout of the paths and old reservoir buildings ensure the demands of a modern country park knit seamlessly with the heritage of the old waterworks;it is here, amongst the trees of the arboretum that the children’s play area, butterfly garden, boules court and picnic areas are to be found - all within easy reach of the car park. Stretch your legs around the 2.4 mile (4km) circuit of the reservoir (dogs are welcome) and you pass by traditionally laid hedges, bluebell woods and a patchwork landscape of small meadows. explore the parks industrial past on the self-led waterworks heritage trail and end up at a 17th century sheep dip ( but don’t forget to make time to visit the visitor centre and coffee shop in the old pump house) or just sit quietly and enjoy the scenery away from the hustle and bustle of nearby towns of Northampton and Wellingbrough.
