Information about this open space

Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park is one of the most diverse open spaces in Oxford. Located in the north of the city, the park offers children’s play facilities and sports grounds as well as formal flowerbeds and wildlife areas. The park consists of two distinct areas; the Cutteslowe area and Sunnymead area. Visitors to the Cutteslowe area can hire a cricket pitch or a football pitch, play mini golf or bowls, use the miniature railway or streetsport site, and play basketball or tennis. There are three pavilions in the park for users of the cricket square, football pitches and bowls green, and a community room for hire by local groups. A pedestrian and cycle bridge joins this area to the Sunnymead area in the South. Here, teenage users are provided with a streetsport site, basketball hoops, table tennis facility, youth shelter and skate park. Paths lead visitors through a countryside area to the River Cherwell, where picnic benches provide a perfect place to rest. The Friends of Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park have had a significant say in the running of the park, and have helped to clear the river and organise litter picks in the wildlife area in the past. The park has hosted some of the largest and most popular events in Oxford, providing a venue for balloon fiestas, motor shows and community events in the past.
