01204334077Moss Bank Park is one of Bolton’s most popular family visitor attractions, with over 500,000 visits per year. With its 34.25 hectares of open space, woodland walks, quiet gardens and a range of family facilities Moss Bank Park has something for everyone. The park has a long history. Built as a private house for the Ainsworth family in 1786, the mossland grounds were used for bleaching cloth. After falling derelict the land was acquired and opened as a public park in 1928 with some of the features of the historic house and gardens still visible today. The park offers a wide range of facilities and events throughout the year. Animal World hosts a range of small animals from across the world as well as older british breeds and the Butterfly House has a reputation for breeding butterflies that other collections cannot. The recently model railway (extended for the 2008 season) runs on Sundays throughout the summer and provides a unique way to visit Santa in his grotto in the run up to Xmas. No visit to the park is complete without a sampling the truly wonderful range of home baking and Italian ice creams from the cafĂ©.
