01642596546Hemlington Lake and Recreation Centre in South Middlesbrough has been operational for over 34 years. Originally built as an extended pavilion to satisfy the grass sports pitches adjacent to the centre. The centre then acquired a 9 acre lake, built as part of the flood defence and surface water drainage system for the new housing development of Hemlington. In recent years there have been a number of significant improvements, with the drainage of the football pitches, the new children’s play area, skatepark and multi games court. Recently successful in raising funds for the angling developments on the lake, including fishing platforms, habitat creation and new footpaths, along with a number of initiatives to improve disabled access. In addition to the outdoor activities, the centre caters for all age ranges and abilities, from baby gym sessions to karate and yoga, carpet bowls and parent n toddler drop in sessions.The Friends of Hemlington Lake are a group committed to the future development of the site and the creation of an all inclusive safe and welcoming park.
