01159013603Developed from the grounds of Arnot Hill House, which was built in 1792, the Park has been the central open space for Arnold since 1919. The infrastructure of the park was in decline until 2001 when the Council embarked on a major refurbishment in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Park has a good range of recreational facilities including a bowls green, play area for under fourteens, skate park and multi sport balls court. The improvement works have also included a major refurbishment of the Lake, the provision of a refreshment kiosk on the site of the old boat house, a refurbished rose garden and a new sensory garden. Adjacent to the lake is a performance area, a modern equivalent to the Band Stand. This is already used for the major eventsand it is hoped to increase the use in future years. The Park is already host to several major community events serving both the local Arnold community and the wider Borough. These include the Arnold Carnival and the Gedling play day both of which attract many thousands of people into the park.
