01162888961Established in 1921 by public donation the park is at the historic centre of Wigston. Recently rejuvenated with a Heritage Lottery Fund grant the park now boasts an award-winning pavilion. Home of Wigston’s bowls clubs the pavilion is also used by community groups including a play school. It is also available for hire. Improved facilities include a multi-use sports court, bowls green, additional seating and planting and a sensory garden containing Wigston’s war memorial and location for the annual remembrance service. The works extended to include the historic Lanes linking the park to the rest of the town. A short walk from the town centre, set amongst established trees, the park provides a haven of peace and quiet much appreciated by the whole community. The park is fortunate to have an active Friends Group, who were instrumental, in partnership with the council, in achieving the lottery grant and continue to be involved in the ongoing management of the park. The public conveniences on the park are open during day light hours Further information can be obtained from the Client Services on 0116 2888961 or www.oadby-wigston.gov.uk
