Information about this open space

Bantock Park and Museum is situated 1 mile to the west of Wolverhampton City Centre in the suburb of Bradmore. Originally Bantock House, (now a Museum containing a decorative arts collection of enamels, jewellery and japanned wares) was a Georgian farmhouse owned by the Bantock family, who donated the house and parkland of 17.4 hectares to the Corporation of Wolverhampton in 1938.  Between 1997 and 2005 the House, farm buildings and gardens were restored to create a visitor experience that reflects the history of the Bantock families association with Wolverhampton. These buildings are used to host events and house a tearoom.  The west of the park retains its ‘rural’ character with gently undulating ground and a nature trail interpreting the wildlife of the park to visitors. Other facilities include football and cricket pitches, a putting green and 18 hole ‘Pitch and Putt’ course.  In the immediate vicinity of the house, the park is more formal, consisting of restored gardens much as they would have been in the early 1900’s. The sunken Dutch Garden is of particular interest with its raised wall planting.  The Park hosts annual events such as the ‘1940’s Weekend’, ‘A Bit of a Do’, ‘Bantock Music Live’ and a range of nature, educational and arts related events. The Park has a Children’s Play Area and large car park with domestic waste recycling facilities. The combination of the Museum, the park’s wide ranging facilities and annual events, makes a diverse attraction with something for everyone.
