02890614115The Colin Glen Forest Park is a 200 acre park composed of beautiful deciduous woodland on the banks of the Colin River. It also features a lake, wildlife ponds, open meadows and great views of Belfast City. It is located on boundary between Belfast and Lisburn and is an oasis amidst the dense housing estates where wildlife can thrive. The park is managed by the Colin Glen Trust whose main aims are to conserve and enhance the biodiversity and wildlife of the forest park, and to provide an open and welcoming community space. The Trust is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors who represent the wide range of community interests. Local community involvement is very important to the Colin Glen Trust which works in close partnership with local neighbourhood groups, environmental interest groups, volunteer groups and local service providers. The Trust organises a variety of educational and recreational events for the public, from wild flower walks, to tree planting days, to orienteering events. We run a very successful education for primary and secondary schools, which hosted over 3,400 students last year. These education groups range from basic nature study classes for primary schools, to GCSE and A level field trips. This programme is certified by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CEA) of Northern Ireland and the Education for Mutual Understanding (EMU) Committee. Colin Glen Forest Park is a great place for people and nature. To find out more visit our website at: www.colinglentrust.org
