Marple Memorial Park was opened in 1922 with an historic pageant.  The park and its war memorial commemorate all the Marple soldiers who died in the First World War.  The Carver and Barlow Families donated the land for use as a park. Part of the site formed the grounds of the Hollins, built in 1820 and home to the Carver family who were local mill owners. The house is now a council office.  Today the park is at the heart of the local community where a number of services are located. These include, housing, library, police station, social services, citizens advice and senior citizens hall.  It provides a wide range of outdoor leisure facilities for all age groups The Park is a good starting point for local walks or for exploring local history.  On a clear day there area stunning views of the Peak District hills which form part of the Peak National Park.  Attractions at the park include:  Skate park Toddler and Junior Play areas Bowling Green Basket Ball Teen Seating Sensory Garden Heritage features including Grade II listed building, sundial and stocks. The park also allows access to the well known Cheshire Ring Canal and Goyt Valley Walks.
