Information about this open space

Market Bosworth Country Park, situated on the edge of the town was formerly part of the historic parkland to the adjacent Bosworth Hall.  Visitors today come to walk, picnic and enjoy the open aspects, the arboretum, lakes and children’s play area.  It is a park that all can appreciate.  Its level nature and the large grassed car parking area make it popular with less mobile visitors.  Families flock to the children’s play area.  Others come to just stroll around the lakes and arboretum or may be to use it as a starting point to explore the surrounding countryside on the extensive footpath network.  In June the Market Bosworth Festival, a major event locally, takes place which includes a ‘Lark in the Park’ combining a country fair with a music event for young people.  Other events are organised by the Rangers during the year usually with an environmental theme such as bird box building, guided walks and natural history events for children.  Extensive native tree planting on the less formal part of the park is slowly turning to woodland.  Add to this a pond and boardwalk and there is the makings of an area important for its wildlife.  It is easy to see why Market Bosworth Country Park is so popular with visitors
